Day 1: Arrival Ho Chi Minh City
Upon arrival at Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh City, our tour guide greets you at the airport with Sland Travel welcome sign and escorts you to hotel for check-in. Relax at hotel or walk around on your own.
Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City Sightseeing (B/L)
Today you will start a tour of Ho Chi Minh City visiting the Thien Hau Temple (a Chinese temple) and the lively Binh Tay Market. After lunch, you will visit theWar Remnants Museum and the Reunification Palace (the former Presidential Palace). From there, the Notre Dame Cathedral, Old Saigon Post Office,Dong Khoi Street (formerly Rue Catinat), Continental Hotel, Opera House and City Hall are all within walking distance and perfect for a nice stroll.
Day 3: Cu Chi Tunnels & Cao Dai Temple (B/L)
We start our day with a visit to Cao Dai Temple located in Tay Ninh. After a two or three hour drive, we arrive at the Holy Temple. Then, attend the fantastic mid-day service together with the followers. Later, have lunch in a local Vietnamese restaurant.
After lunch, we continue our day with another two hour drive to visit Cu Chi Tunnels, a key Vietcong resource during the Vietnam War. They span hundreds of miles underground and accommodated the Vietcong for up to two weeks at a time. We finish the tunnel tour at around 17:00 and drive back to town.
Day 4: Ho Chi Minh – Mekong Delta – Vinh Long – Sa Dec – Can Tho (B/L)
Morning depart Saigon, we drive through the lush gardens and green fields to Mekong Delta. Upon arrival at Vinh Long Town, we will embark on a private boat trip on the Co Chien River, some of the largest Mekong’s arm. We will cruise under the spectacular My Thuan Cable-stayed Bridge. A stop will be made at Dinh Tan Hoa, an ancient provincial house built some hundred fifty years ago
We will proceed the cruise up-stream on the Tien river, another large arm of the Mekong. On the banks, some dark smokes in the sky will lead us to one of the biggest bricks and tiles factory where we will have an interesting visit.
Back on board, we will continue to cruise towards Sa Dec. On both sides of the river, locals are recolting water water-hyacinth, another famous Mekong delta product used for furniture and baskets. Sa Dec town is appearing like a little “Venice” with numerous narrow canals, with various kind of activities on the banks. We will disembark at Sa Dec local market, one of the biggest ones of the delta. Walk along its narrow streets and beautiful old houses dating from the last century, some old Chinese temples, including the primary school of Marguerite Duras famous writer. (See Marguerite Duras novel turned into a famous movie, “The Lover”).
Depart Sa Dec we wind our way to Can Tho. Arrive and check into your hotel. The rest of the day is free at leisure.
Day 5: Can Tho – Market visits – Saigon – Fly to Da Nang/ Hoi An (B/L)
After breakfast at homestay, we take a two-hour boat trip to visit the Cai Rang and Phong Dien floating markets. Wander into the villages to visit the rice paper mill and the rice noodle making factory. Learn how to cross the “Monkey Bridge” which is made from a single bamboo. We also enjoy a bicycle ride through the villages to enjoy the beautiful rural scenery. Lunch will be served in local restaurant.
Depart Can Tho we drive straight back to Tan Son Nhat airport to catch a short afternoon flight to Da Nang. Upon arrival in Da Nang airport, we will be met and welcomed by your local tour guide and driver. Transfer to hotel in Hoi An. Free at leisure after hotel check in.
Day 6: Hoi An – A Vietnamese Day (B/L)
After breakfast at hotel, we kick off for an interesting bike (pushbike) ride to visit Hoi An’s major attractions: which includes Japanese Bridge, Old Merchant House, China Assembly Halls and some other interesting shops.
Hoi An was once a flourishing port under the Nguyen lords. Today, the charming town retains the spirit of a bygone era, with tile-roofed wooden buildings and ancient winding streets. Riding through this pedestrianized town, losing ourselves in the potpourri of vendors selling colorful handmade lanterns (a Hoi An specialty), tailor shops with local fashions on display and the intoxicating aroma of Vietnam’s undeniable cuisine.
In the afternoon, a fisherman will greet us at the shore and help us to step on Hoi An’s special boat: Basket Boat. The basket-shaped transportation is widely used in Southern Vietnam; sitting in one would be one of the precious fun moments in your Vietnam holiday. Just as other fishermen, you will be back to shore with a boat-load of fish when sunset. What a harvest!
Day 7: Free for leisure Hoi An (B)
Today you are free for leisure in your own way.
Day 8: Hoi An – Day trip to My Son Holy Land (B)
Depart Hoi An, your private guide and driver takes you to My Son Holy Land (about one hour), considered to be one of the best-preserved Cham structures in Vietnam. My Son is a former capital of the ancient Cham civilization that ruled central Vietnam between the second and thirteenth centuries. The complex is comprised of seventy Hindu-like towers and temples dating from the second century. After visit the temple complex and take plenty photos, we return to Hoi An by boat. Arrive back in town at around mid-day. The remainder of the day is free to explore the town, visit the local markets or simply enjoy the last shopping
Day 9: Hoi An – Da Nang – HUE (B/L)
Depart Hoi An, we drive towards Hue which is about 120km from Hoi An town. Passing Danang, a stop will be made at Cham Museum which has an open air collection of Cham sculptures. Many of the sandstone carving are breathtaking. Visit the marble mountain. We also stop at the famed China Beach for some quick photos.
We then travel through Hai Van pass, and Lang Co beach – one of the most beautiful beaches of Vietnam. Arrive in Hue and check into your hotel.
After lunch we visit the Imperial Citadel, a 19th-century walled fortress taken by North Vietnam during the Tet Offensive in the Vietnam War, shocking South Vietnamese and U.S. forces. Later we embark in a boat cruise along Perfume River to vist Thien Mu Pagoda and admire sunset on boat. Stay overnight in Hue.
Day 10: Hue Imperial City Tour – Fly to Hanoi (B/L)
This morning, continue your exploration of Hue. Visit Emperor Tu Duc’s tomb, a complex of terraces and pagodas. Then set off to discover Emperor Khai Dinh’s mausoleum — though smaller than Tu Duc’s, it is far more elaborate. Stop at Vong Canh – Bird’s eyed view point to admire the wonderful scenery of the perfume River. Stop at the local workshop to see people making joss sticks and conical hats.
Today we will have an opportunity to enjoy a delicious lunch buffet in a local Buddhist monastery. After lunch, we drive straight to Hue airport for a short flight to Hanoi. You will be met on arrivals by your private guide and driven to your hotel of choice here. Stay overnight in Hanoi
Day 11: Hanoi City Tour – Night Train Sapa (B/L)
Breakfast at hotel, our tour guide and driver will meet you at lobby of hotel at 08:00AM for full day to explore Vietnam’s charming capital. With its wide tree-lined boulevards, French colonial architecture, peaceful lakes and ancient oriental pagodas, Hanoi is an eclectic mix that offers something for everyone. Your city tour will take you to Hanoi’s key sites: the Ho Chi Minh Complex (Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and stilt house); the Presidential Palace; the nearby One Pillar Pagoda; the Temple of Literature; West Lake; the sedate Tran Quoc Pagoda & Quan Thanh Temple; and one of the city’s museums (a choice between the History Museum and the Ethnology Museum). End of the day you can enjoy a traditional Water Puppet Performance – a unique Vietnamese art form hailing from Southeast Asia’s wet-rice culture. Tonight, take a Night Train for Sapa Tour at 8.30pm – Be escorted to the railway station by Sland Travel staff for boarding the train to travel up Lao Cai city
Day 12: Visit Hill Tribe villages Lao Chai – Ta Van (B/L/D)
Morning arrive at Lao Cai, we take a short transfer on a private van ascending to the former hill-station town of Sapa. At an elevation of 1,500 meters, Sapa was once a hill resort of French administrators when the summer heat became unbearable. The remoteness and the simple lifestyle of ethnic minority people are a highlight of Sa Pa although conditions are basic. Freshen up and enjoy a breakfast and then take a leisure walk to visit to Sapa town, Sapa market. After that we proceed to Lao Chai – Ta Van villages. Take a walk through the dirt trails of the villages, meet and talk with the hill tribe people and explore their daily life and beautiful landscape. Return to Sapa for lunch and the rest of the day is at leisue. Stay overnight in Sapa.
Day 13: Sapa – Market tours – Overnight train to Hanoi (B/L)
After breakfast we depart part Sapa with our entire luggages to the local markets. Lunch will be taken at a local restaurant. After the tour we drive back to Lao Cai station. Have dinner (optional) at a restaurant nearby the station before catching the overnight train again to get back Hanoi. Stay overnight on train – 4 berth cabin – Soft sleeper with A/C.
Day 14: Hanoi – Halong Bay (L/D)
Arrive in Hanoi at around 5.15 am. Get back hotel to take a shower before start your journey to Halong Bay and arrive at around midday to board a traditional junk for an overnight cruise. Halong Bay is widely considered to be one of the natural wonders of the world. Thousands of towering pillars of sea and wind-carved limestone karst make the bay an unforgettable sight. After lunch, explore some of the huge limestone caves dotted around the bay and visit a floating fishing village. Then the captain will find a secluded spot where you can swim, soak up the sun on the top deck, or try your hand at kayaking. In the evening enjoy a seafood feast for dinner.
Day 15: Halong – Hanoi – Fly to Luang Prabang (B/L)
Awake early and participate in Tai Chi on the top deck or simply relax and enjoy the sunrise over the bay’s towering islands. Enjoy a morning cup of coffee or tea, before setting out to explore nearby islands by rowboat. Return to the junk for breakfast then take advantage of the sundeck and admire the amazing rock formations of Bai Tu Long Bay as you navigate back to Halong City. Your driver will meet you at the Halong pier and take you back to Hanoi. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 16: Hanoi Free for Leisure
Free for leisure until take a short flight to Luang Prabang. On arrival in Luang Prabang, we are met at the airport by your private guide and driver then transferred to hotel. Then free time for you. Stay overnight in Luang Prabang
Day 17: Luang Prabang – Ancient Town (B)
For early-risers (05h30) there is a very special dawn visit to witness the long lines of orange-robed monks leaving their pagodas to receive offerings of food from Luang Prabang residents. Return to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, a city tour begins at the former Royal Palace, now the National Museum. Continue to Wat Mai, a temple renowned for its golden bas-reliefs. Then the Wat Sene with its beautiful golden façade, temple: Wat Xieng Thong. In the afternoon, visit Wat Visoun , Wat Aham, Wat That where the ashes of King Sisavang Vong are interred inside the large central stupa. Continue to climbing the 328 steps to the top of Mount Phousi to enjoy a panoramic view of the city and the surrounding countryside, Stop at the night market. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 18: Luang Prabang – Pak Ou Cave (B)
After breakfast embark for a boat trip on the Mekong River to visit the mysterious Pak Ou Caves. Then back to Luang Prabang with stop off Ban Xang Hai to sample local rice wine and visit its handicrafts. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 19: Luang Phrabang – Vang Vieng – Vientiane (B)
After breakfast, departure from Luang Prabang to Vientiane, on the way overstop in Vang Vieng, then continue to Vientiane. On arrival in Vientiane transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Vientiane.
Day 20: Vientiane City Tour (B)
After breakfast full day dedicated to the visit of capital city: Wat Sisaket, Wat Phra Keo, the Patuxai monument, That Luang, the holiest place in Laos and the Vat Simuang, the most popular and venerated temple in Vientiane. Visit of market with handmade crafts and sarongs. Overnight in Vientiane
Day 21: Vientiane – Siem Reap (B/D)
Free morning until we are transferred to Vientiane airport for s short flight to the next destination – Siem Reap.
Upon arrival, you will be met and warmly welcomed by our local guide. Then we transfer to the hotel for check in. Then we set off in the late afternoon for an exploration of one of the famous sites in Siem Reap, the fabulous Ta Prohm embraced by the roots of enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers after that. Enjoy walking at busy pub street where you can find many bars for cool drink or shopping at Angkor Night Market. Stay overnight in Siem Reap.
Day 22: Angkor Thom Wonder (B/L)
We start on our bike and cycle (45 minutes for cycling) or drive to world heritage areas on the roads less travelled. Ride among the jungle passing local village and local shop. It’s a very special and acting day as you will explore some of Angkor’s most beautiful temples. You will visit the West Gate of Angkor Thom – undiscovered by mass tourist;
The tour continues with the major visit to the famous temple: Angkor Wat. Angkor Wat is a World Heritage Site since 1992, famous for its beauty and splendor. Angkor Wat features the longest continuous bas-relief in the world, which runs along the outer gallery walls and narrates stories from Hindu mythology. We end up our day with a visit to Bakheng Temple and enjoy a romantic sun set view form Bakheng hill. Stay overnight in Siem Reap.
Day 23: Cambodia Village – Tonle Sap Lake (B/L)
Early morning at around 5:30am, we start our day with a sunrise watch over Angkor Wat temple and listening singing birds over the ancient land of Angkor area. We walk to nearby Pagoda and offering food to monks. Spend your own time talk to the monk and nuns to exchange the culture or relieve. We return to hotel for breakfast.
Moving in tune with the rhythm of the great annual flood of Tonle Sap, take a boat ride to the village of Kompong Phhluk on stilts this afternoon. Explore this great ecosystem by way of canoeing and hear the calls of the macaque monkeys while observing the forest beneath the lake’s surface. Then free time for you in the afternoon. Stay overnight in Siem Reap.
Day 24: Siem Reap – Kampong Thom –Phnom Penh (B/L)
After breakfast we drive to Phnom Penh around 5 – 6 hours via Kampong Thom, travel just outside Kampong Thom to see key archeological sites, starting with Sambor Prei Kuk, perhaps the most important grouping of pre-Angkorian monuments in Cambodia. Before the rise of the Angkor, this was the capital of Chenla during the sixth century, known as Isanapura. Today over 100 small temple ruins sit peacefully in a forest setting. Explore the main central complex and gain an insight into the early architectural styles of Cambodia. On the way visit archeological “Naga Bridge” at Kompong Kdei.
We arrive in Phnom Penh in the late afternoon. Check into the hotel and free to relax afterwards. Stay overnight in Phnom Penh.
Day 25: Phnom Penh City Tour – Killing Fields (B/L)
After breakfast we drive out of town to visit Choeung Ek museum, between 1975 and 1978 about 17,000 men, women, children and infants detained and tortured at S-21 prison were transported to the extermination camp of Choeung Ek.
We then return to town to visit the National Museum, Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda, Independence Monument, Russian Market, & Wat Phnom. Then back to the hotel, a free night to explore the city yourself or relax. Stay overnight in Phnom Penh.
Day 26: Phnom Penh Departure – Saigon/Bangkok (B/L)
Breakfast at the hotel. The whole morning is at leisure until you are picked up by your private guide and driver, and then taken to Phnom Penh airport for the departure flight home. End of the journey.
